Mechanicville Area Community Services Center (MACSC)  -

SNOW SERVICE NEEDED

MACSC is looking for a licensed snow provider to shovel and plow the community center.  First plow and salting needs to be done before 6:30 a.m.  Parking lot, all sidewalks, (including sidewalk in front of the center), entrance to center and around both sides to Preschool and School aged child care programs.

Community Hearts 2nd Annual Award Gala


Our Community Center is the heart of the Mechanicville Area Community!  The Mechanicville Area Community Service Center- Community Hearts Gala recognizes those individuals and organizations that contribute to making our communities stronger and in some way embrace a commitment to enhancing the quality of life for the community through their actions, support for family, positive approach to community, dedication to recreation and / or education for 2014. 

Four awards will be given out on February 12, 2015 at Fairways of Halfmoon to individuals and organizations who make a difference in the lives of others in Mechanicville and surrounding areas. All nominations will be reviewed and selected by a panel of judges and honored at the dinner.

All entries must be received no later than Monday, December 1st, 2014




2014 Mechanicville Area Community Tree Lighting Celebration

Set for December 5 at Mechanicville Community Center
 
This year, Thanksgiving is on November 27. Just eight days later, on Friday, December 5, the tree lighting will be held at the newly-refurbished Mechanicville Area Community Services Center (6 South Main Street) from 4:30pm to 7:30pm.

There is a packed program of events and appearances for those who attend the celebration:

  • At 4:30, the children’s favorite clown, Ronald McDonald, will make an appearance.
  • At 4:45, the Mechanicville High School Chorus will present a selection of holiday favorites. Sing-alongs will be encouraged.
  • At 5:15, there will be a Zumba demonstration, led by Sarah Bacon, who teaches Zumba classes at Stillwater Community Center and throughout the area.
  • At 5:30, the little children from MACSC’s Whistle Stop Learning Center Preschool will present their versions of many holiday ditties.-more- 
  • At 6:00, the Big Guy himself, Santa Claus, will arrive, bringing his great laugh and a bag full of holiday cheer, and
  • At 6:30, everyone from the area is welcome to enjoy the annual tree lighting.
  • Raffle drawings will be held shortly after the tree lighting.

Adults and children are welcome to the festivities at no charge. There will be complimentary light refreshments, a gym full of raffle items, and crafts to keep the children busy. The annual Memory Tree ornaments, designed and donated by Tammy Sinnott, an annual attraction at this event, will be available for a $10 donation, with all proceeds benefitting the Elder Care programs operated by MACSC.

 There remains a need for donations of gift baskets and gift items for the raffle. To donate or to get more information, contact Holly LaTorre at 664.8322 Ext. 317. MACSC appreciates the community members who already have anonymously donated to the event, our sponsors and the staff, Board members, and volunteers who are working to make the event a success.

Donations are being accepted for bagged or canned dog food, cat food, cat liter, cat and dog treats.  Thank you for your continued support
