Food Pantry Hunger Challenge
If you were going to donate to MACSC food pantry now would be the perfect time! 
Donations received from March 1st to April 30th will go directly towards our challenge.  The more donations we get the more money from the Feinstein challege MACSC will receive.  
Donations can include checks, cash, or non perishable food items.

YMCA brings new programs to MACSC


New programs include :

Tabita:  Wed 9:30-10:30 a.m.
Cario/Scuplt Mon 9:30-10:30 a.m. 
Gym for Tots ages 3-4 Mon 11:00-12:00 p.m.
Y sports ages 3-5Wed 11:00-12:00 p.m.
Saturday Night Basketball Middle School Basketball League Saturday-6:30-8:00 p.m.

Pre-registration is required.  For all classes/programs registration forms are available at the Mechanicville Area Community Services Center.  

$50.00 for each class/program.

TABATA (adults):  Tabata is a daring and dynamic body conditioning experience.  Tabata training is (20) second of a specific high intensity exercise followed by (10) seconds of rest.  You will do this cycle for (8) rounds or (4) minutes total time.  This is a Tabata interval.  Tabata intervals will include cardio, resistance/sculpting and core training rounds for a well  balanced, full workout that will increase your athletic performance and decrease your body fat.  Please come prepared to work and sweat! 

Cadio/Sculpt Intervals (adults):  Cardiovascular exercise improves your cardiovascular endurance and burns calories.  Resistance training (body sculpting_ strengthens your bones and sculpts your body.  Please join is for a class that incorporates both of these elements which equals a great overall workout.  

Gym for Tots (ages 3-5):  We provide an hour of physical education and offer out commitment to helping your toddler develop motor movements, coordination, and cooperation.  Toddlers for all ability levels are welcome.  

Y-Sports (ages 3-5):  Kids participate in new sport and gym activities every week.  Activities include basketball, soccer flag football, team handball, kickball and agility games.  Kids will learn new versions or traditional games and have a blast playing their favorite sports and game with their friends.  


Saturday Night Basketball Middle School Basketball League
Join us this year as the court hearts up every Saturday evening, for the Saturday Night Middle School Basketball League at the Mechanicville Community Center.  Open to any player in grades 6-8.

FREE TAX PREPARATION

VITA, United Way and CA$H volunteers offer free tax preparation services
at Mechanicville Area Community Services Center

Mechanicville …The Mechanicville Area Community Services Center (MACSC) will provide free income tax preparation for individuals with beginning January 27, 2014 from  through April 2, 2014.  United Way, CA$H and VITA volunteers will provide this free services to families and individuals seeking help with tax preparation services from IRS-certified volunteer preparers.  Eligible taxpayers will receive a 10-day refund (with direct deposit).  Savings bonds are available, as is access to multiple tax prep site throughout the Capital Region.
          Earned Income Tax Credits (EITC) are available.  Maximum EITC’s range from up to $457.00 for a person with no
qualifying  dependents to $5,666 for a family or individual with three qualifying dependents.  To check your eligibility for
the EITC tax credit and other savings go to www.MyBenefits.ny.gov.
          MACSC is seeking volunteers in cooperation with the United Way, CA$H, and the Volunteer Income Tax
Assistance  Program.  CA$H is a coalition of community partners dedicated to promoting financial stability for people in
the Capital Region.  The VITA program provides free tax preparation that helps filers access the tax credits and refunds
they are entitled to.  The United Way convenes and oversees the CA$H coalition.
          MACSC is a comprehensive not-for-profit agency serving the Mechanicville, Stillwater, Halfmoon, and Waterford areas.  Among its services are
·         An emergency food pantry
·         A program serving victims of domestic violence
·         Educational and socialization services for senior citizens
·         School supply, Thanksgiving and holiday gift assistance for 
          families and
·         Comprehensive child care for children from 18 months to four
           year old (fee based)

 

WSLC-WHISTLE STOP LEARNING CENTER
