Position: Family Support & Resource Specialist

Reports To: Healthy Families Program Manager

Program Name: Healthy Families Saratoga County

Location of Job: Throughout Saratoga County

Description of Duties:

The Healthy Families Saratoga County FSS/FRS supports expectant and new parents by conducting home visits that support positive parent-child bonding, promote child and family health and development, and enhance family resilience. This position will work closely with a team of educators and supervisors to support parents, children, and families through the use of existing evidence-based health education and parenting curricula. Positive, persistent, and individualized outreach from the FSS/FRS keeps families involved in the program and leads to improved outcomes for children, parents, and the community. The FSS/FRS may also be required to conduct outreach, build partnerships with community service providers, and explore resources with families to address challenges and promote healthy pregnancies, childhoods, and family development. The FRS utilizes various assessment tools to determine eligibility.

 

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Will provide direct home-based services to families, using curriculum to support positive parent-child bonding, promote child and family health and development, and enhance family resilience.
  • Available to work Monday-Friday from 8:00 am – 4:00 pm **This position must maintain a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the families they serve. Some early mornings or evenings may be required.**

 

HF Saratoga County Requirements:

  • Must be 18 years or older
  • High School Diploma or its equivalent with some college/related experience working with families.
  • Bachelor’s degree or an Associate degree with two years related experience preferred 
  • Valid Driver’s License with the ability to drive and driving record acceptable for Association insurance coverage required
  • Must have own transportation and be able to operate motor vehicle required
    • Ability to meet the frequent travel requirements associated with this position required
  • Must meet acceptable background check requirements.
  • Available to work Monday-Friday from 8:00 am – 4:00 pm
    • Must have flexible schedule to accommodate families, occasional early morning and/or evening meetings/activities required
  • Ability to help ensure diverse, equitable, and inclusive programs
  • Must maintain client and program data confidentiality
  • On the job training and orientation provided
    • CPR + First Aid Training will be provided
  • Must be able to serve as an effective subject matter resource, and effectively deliver related programs and trainings

 

Additional Requirements: 

  • Ability to effectively participate in professional team efforts, including frequent collaboration with staff and outside organizations.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with presenters, program participants, employees and others. Ability to relate effectively to co-workers, volunteers, advisors, community and professional leaders.
  • Show Proficiency or ability to learn and effectively use software including use of the internet, program related software, and Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Excel.

 

Position Philosophy:

Healthy Families New York (HFNY) offers home based services to support expectant families and new parents with the changes and needs that often come with the birth of a new child.  Services are voluntary and free and include helping family’s access community resources, educating families on parenting and child development, connecting families with medical providers and assessing children for developmental delays.

MACSC is a small agency and various duties will occasionally be requested of each employee.  All employees are expected to contribute to the efficient operation of MACSC, not necessarily in the capacity listed in the description.  These duties will come at the request of and under the direction of Executive Director.
